Artist Research - Photograms:
Man Ray:
Information on the man himself: He was an American modernist artist who spent most of his career in Paris, France. A lot of his work is surreal and he contributed to the Surrealist movement. Ray is known for his work with photograms, which he called "rayographs" in a reference to himself.

I like this image because it is has a sharp contrast, I like how crisp the spikes are. I have tried to create this sort of look in a few of my images:
I have tried to get the sharpness in these photos with plants like used in Man Ray's photograms, I think the most successful was the first one as I had more plants and flowers to play with.
I really like this photogram of a dandelion by Man Ray, the simplicity of this really appeals to me. It's just pure and beautiful, I like how that lights has shown the lines and the little heads of the dandelion and they're blurry. Unfortunately I couldn't recreate this but I would have love to have given it a go, maybe with a few of them and not just one alone.
Stay tuned for more on photographers/artists who used photograms.
