35mm film photography: Artist research-Paul Strand

Paul Strand:
Information about artist: Paul Strand was an American photographer and filmmaker who helped establish photography as an art form in the 20th century.
This is the first image of his that stood out to me, this is because of the contrast making the shadows show the lines in the direction people are walking. He made sure he exposed for the shadows, making sure there's enough detail to be seen. The photo is talking about how the shadows are almost following the people they belong to. This makes me feel like they are walking into the light, this could be heaven. I was inspired to take a photo of people walking to the train station but it was taken at a different angle. This photo has been taken at a 45 degree angle, possibly from a balcony looking down. The light coming from a window but it creates a pattern which directs your eyes. Paul Strand uses the rule of thirds as the people are in a diagonal line starting from the left, the pairs on the right are further back than the people on the far right.

I also liked:

I like this image because of the zigzag on the stairs. It almost confusing for the eyes to look at, you don't know whether to start, do you start from the front? do you start from the back?

I like this image because of the detail on the railings.

Stay tuned for more Artist Research.
