How to make a Photogram Test Strip:
A photogram is an image that is created without a camera or a lens, by placing objects onto a piece of light sensitive paper, in a darkroom and by using light (preferably from an enlarger) to cast a silhouette of your objects, this creates a unique image.

A test strip is used when you're trying to figure out how long to expose your light sensitive paper to a light source for, to create the best image.Remember that the paper is highly sensitive to paper so you need to be in a darkroom where you can work in safe light conditions.
You'll need:
1. Objects of your choice
2. An enlarger
3. Light sensitive paper
4. Piece of cardboard (preferably bigger than the paper you're using)
Step by Step:
1. First of all using the enlarger, you're going to have to check the f stop, you can try it on different numbers and see which is best, I found for photograms that 11 was the best.
2. Make sure you have put the timer on 2 seconds.
3. Make sure you know the space where the light will shine on the base plate. You will need a rough idea for when you come to place your paper down.
4. You will need to make sure no light can effect the paper before getting it out. Place a piece of light sensitive paper on base plate. (preferably don't use a big piece, cut a piece of 5x7 in to strips).
5. Place an object or a few on your strip of paper (remembering that once you have started the countdown, you can't touch them)
6. Grab your piece of cardboard and cover the paper, leave a strip of about an inch uncovered for the light to hit.
7. Start the countdown, when it has stopped after two seconds, move the card another inch and repeat start the countdown again. Repeat this process so you have done it four times then take the card off and expose it for 2 seconds.
8. You should have a piece of paper that has been exposed like this:

In the next post I will be explaining how to develop your image so stay tuned.~CRR
