Now you have your tank with your film inside, it's time to develop!
You will need:
1.Tank with film in
2. Developer
3.Stop
4.Fix
5.Water
6.Thermometer
7.Film Dryer
8.Jug/Cylinder
Step by Step:
1. Prepare a jug or cylinder with water, using a thermometer make sure the water is at 20 degrees Celsius. Use this water to mix with the chemicals. Depending on the film being used, the ratio of chemical to water will change. (Always take caution when pouring chemicals,if you get it on your hand, wash it immediately)
2. Fill the tank up with the water that is 20 degrees and agitate it gently for a minute, this makes the film/tank rise to the same to a similar temperature and softens the film emulsion.
3. Once the chemical water mixes has been made up, take the developer and pour it in. Start timing as soon as you've finished pouring it in, put the lid on and make sure it's secure, turn it upside down for 20 seconds. Then agitate twice every minute, when you have reached the amount of time needed , pour it out.
4. Pour in the Stop and place the lid back on and turn upside down for 30 seconds, pour it back into the stop container using a funnel.
5. Pour the Fix into the tank, place the lid back on and turn upside down every 15 seconds for 5 minutes. Pour the Fix back into it's container using a funnel.
6. Fill the tank with water from the cylinder/jug and make sure the lid is on securely and turn upside down several times then pour the water away. Then remove the film from the tank and submerge in water for 10-15 minutes.
7. Finally you need to either use a dryer to dry your negatives or you can just hang them over night. Make sure you place a weight on the bottom to make sure they dry straight. Once they are dry, cut them into lines of 6 photos.
You are now ready to make a contact sheet! Stay tuned.
